2000 buick lesabre review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. introductionit's amazing to think full-size cars were by far the most popular cars in the u. The lesabre is not a traditional large car because the body is not built on a frame, it does not use rear-wheel drive nor is it fitted with a v8 engine. The only cars left on the market that fit that description are the ford crown victoria, mercury grand marquis and lincoln town car. the buick lesabre has been totally redesigned for 2000. It's somewhat hard to tell at first glance, however, because it looks similar to the 1999 model. Prices range from $22,890 to about $30,000 for a loaded model. Although the overall appearance of the new car is similar to the old car, it has all-new sheet metal with more curves. In particular, the side profile has a nice curvy upturn along the rear doors to a high trunk that gives the car classic lines that befit its position as a premium sedan. at the front, the lesabre has a distinctive grille that sits well forward and is almost part of the front bumper. The headlights are well integrated into the lines of the car. Buick claims that the new body is much stiffer than the previous model giving the car a better ride and crisper handling. safety is an important part of lesabre's image and buick has gone to great lengths to improve the safety of occupants in the newest model. Apart from dual airbags it also includes side airbags for the front seats. Stabilitrak helps keep the car on the correct line through a corner in slippery conditions by gently applying the brakes on one or more wheels. It cannot overcome the laws of physics but it does add a margin of safety by reducing the effects of driver errors. The head-up display projects speed and other information onto the windshield in front of the driver's eyes. the seat belts on the front seats are mounted to the seat frame so they move with the seat for greater comfort. The seats boast a new design engineers like to call a 'catcher's mitt.' the seat back is much stiffer than usual; in an accident it holds the person in place and the headrest moves forward to lessen whiplash. It is especially effective in the common low-speed rear-end accident, according to buick. interiorvisually there might not be a great change to the new lesabre but inside it's another story. Buick has totally redesigned the dashboard to give the car a fresh, modern, luxurious look. The dash sweeps across the width of the car with a canopy over the instruments extending from the passenger side to the driver's door panel. This design gives the interior an open feeling and integrates the door trim into the dashboard nicely. A wide strip of faux wood trim extends along the door panels and across the center of the dashboard. the driver information center on the limited model has a digital readout that can display oil temperature, fuel consumption, tire pressure and other data. Round analog gauges are easy to read. A bench seat does not provide much support for the driver compared to a bucket seat and the lesabre's is no exception. A large flat surface flips out that is designed to be a writing surface. It could prove useful for people who need to have a notepad handy while on the road. But it sits at an awkward angle and we found it difficult to use. wide doors allow easy access to the front and rear seats. Rear seat passengers will find plenty of room. The slightly longer wheelbase and wider track on this new lesabre increase rear seating space. It gets a bit tight with three adults back there, however. That's good news because big buicks have not been known as cars that excel in the handling department. Their suspensions have been designed primarily to provide a soft, cushy ride. That can sometimes result in a wallowy ride where the car tends to float over undulations and provide little feedback to the driver. That floating sensation is gone. But the base lesabre should offer good handling. the 3. 8-liter v6 engine is one of gm's best engines. It performs well in the lesabre, even though it has to propel a relatively heavy car. Buick prides itself as the maker of premium american cars and it has upheld that tradition with the 2000 lesabre. for not much more than the price of a compact car, the lesabre delivers a six-passenger sedan with lots of features standard.

Meanwhile, toyota has just launched an all-new camry for 2002, while nissan has introduced an all-new and much larger altima. It is remarkably easy to drive and every aspect of it is user friendly. honda sold 414,718 accords during calendar year 2001, making it number one in passenger-car sales, and it has been one of america's best-selling cars for the past 10 years. not much has changed with the accord since last year. For 2002, honda has added a new se trim level that adds popular features to the value-oriented lx. another thing that hasn't changed is its quality, durability, and reliability. Power and associates ranks the accord's mechanical quality and body and interior quality as 'better than most.' an entire generation has grown up with hondas, and 26 years of accords have proven it to be a safe choice, a car that a family can buy and more or less forget, turning their attention to the other concerns of a daily life. Air conditioning is optional. It comes with an 8-way power driver's seat and a 4-way power passenger seat. all accords are equipped with dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags that detect seatbelt use and crash severity and regulate bag deployment force accordingly. Side-impact airbags are optional, however. Lx and ex come standard with anti-lock brakes. V6 accords come with honda's tcs traction control. walkaroundhonda freshened the accord last year with a new engine hood and fascia up front and a new deck lid and tail lights in the rear. The overall effect is even more sharply chiseled than before. Even so, the accord is beginning to look dated. It was last completely redesigned for 1998. It retains an understated, refined appearance. The nose is short, and the hood and cowl are low, which complement the glassy cabin to provide excellent visibility from inside. honda designed the accord coupe to have its own identity as distinct from the accord sedan. Features associated with luxury cars abound, particularly on the high-level models. Sun visors offer sliding extensions. A homelink remote control system can be programmed to open garage doors, turn on house lights and turn off security systems. And the controls are a paragon of excellent design with big buttons that are easy to identify and use. Switching among six cds, changing songs, scanning stations is all easy to do. driving impressionthe honda accord remains a great sedan. The ride quality is as smooth as some cars that cost a lot more, and better than some of them. This is an easy car to drive. It corners well, with steering that's light and precise. handling on bumpy roads is incredibly good. A series of big bumps in the middle of a corner taken at speed hardly affects the accord's direction at all. The suspension damps out the bumps and keeps the tires planted on the road. This handling balance is a benefit of the accord's strong chassis and double-wishbone front and rear suspensions. At the handling limit, it tends toward understeer like all front-drive cars; the front tires lose grip before the rear tires. The accord ex v-6 feels light on its feet. It's so smooth and so quiet that sometimes a glance at the tachometer is required to confirm that it's running. Stomp on the throttle and it growls with the authority of a free-breathing cylinder head. This engine delivers lots of power for merging into traffic or entertaining its driver. It's smooth, powerful and efficient, generating 150 horsepower at 5700 rpm. An accord equipped with this engine is a great package that deserves consideration by anyone shopping for a roomy mid-size car that excels in quality, durability, reliability, smoothness, ride quality, practicality and fuel efficiency. all accords sold nationwide meet or exceed california's low emissions vehicle (lev) standard, regardless of engine.
